Fishermans Wharf Another absolute waterfront restaurant, with resident artist/owner Jan Franz’s work. Jan is an excellent printmaker, and displays her work constantly, as well as having intermittent exhibitions featuring other artists. Worth a look. East Gippsland Art Gallery A small, publicly funded gallery housed near the old courthouse buildings. which has just recently been renovated and refurbished. A small gallery shop is now in operation where you will be able to purchase local crafts, and small artworks plus a selection of books. Krowathunkoolong, the Aboriginal Keeping Place I This is the museum of Koorie history, heritage, culture and artifacts in Bairnsdale The collection of art and artifacts is a good one and they are well displayed and explained, often with a personal guide. Metung Turn off the Highway at Swan Reach and head down to Metung to continue the artists trail from Paynesville.
Studio 7-Owen and Lyn Piggott The gallery displays the work of Owen who is a painter and printmaker of some note and his subject matter is the Gippsland Lakes. Owens work is represented in major public and private collections in Australia and Overseas. Lyn, A silversmith has her handcrafted jewellery items also on display. Max Nicolson The studio and gallery that he sells from on Nungurner Rd. just a few km from Metung. Max takes his inspiration from the lakes and produces oils, watercolours and drawings. Take the road from Metung back to the highway and then turn right just outside the town proper. Nungurner A small hamlet between Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance is home to three excellent galleries and four very fine artists. These artists have their studios in a single location. Nungurner can be reached by following the signs from Metung, after visiting the galleries there.The road from here will also take you back to the Princes Hwy just out of Lakes Entrance. Artists
Nyremilang Is an old homestead close to Nungurner and well worth a visit. It was once owned by the Syme family but is now open for visitors daily; usually 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. It has beautiful views of the Lakes from the gardens. Just check the signposts in the area. phone 51 56 3253
Nowa Nowa Just out of Lakes Entrance if you get this far is the beautiful township of Nowa Nowa with a couple of galleries worth noting

Otherwise you could take a day trip to explore and drive back via some of the interesting back roads that wind around the outskirts of the highways and visit great little country towns like Heyfield and Maffra
Australian Wildlife Art Galleries On the Highway is the studio and gallery of Chris and Dawn Stubbs, two artists who portray Australian wildlife naturalistically and with great skill. Sculptures, paintings, prints and reproductions are sold. The gallery also provides tea and coffee. The gallery also has a retail outlet in Bairnsdale called the Silver Wombat. The Gippsland Gallery One of Victoria’s fine regional galleries, it is publicly funded and has a very good and growing permanent collection as well as showing touring exhibitions of great merit. The permanent collection has a core of fine works that have an environmental theme, or are the work of local artists of great merit. It has a good gift shop too and the gallery is a "must see" for any art lover visiting Gippsland. It is on the highway, well sign-posted at the western end of town. Cowwarr Art Space This is a fine gallery between Traralgon and Sale to the north of the Highway, about 1 1/4 hours from Paynesville. It will reward you if you wish to visit on your way to or from Melbourne. It is housed in an old butter factory that provides a wonderful exhibition space, and shows mainstream as well as "fringe" work. Yarragon Asmall town on the Princes Highway about 1 1/4 hours from Melbourne (about 2 hours from Paynesville). There are galleries, antique and gift shops and several cafes to visit.
