This page explains how Gippsland Lakes Escapes ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use our website at gippslandlakesescapes.com.au.
We keep this short and in plain English. If anything's unclear or you'd like to change or delete the information we hold about you, email us at bookings@gippslandlakesescapes.com.au and we'll sort it out.
What we collect
When you fill in our contact form or make a booking, we collect:
- Your name and contact details (email, phone)
- The dates, guest count and property you're enquiring about
- Any message you choose to send us
When you make a booking, the booking system also collects the payment details required to confirm your stay. Card details are processed by our reservation platform's payment provider (Escapia / HAPI) and are not stored on our website's servers.
Like most websites, we also automatically receive a small amount of technical information from your browser when you visit (IP address, browser type, the pages you viewed and the time of visit). We use this only to keep the site running and to spot abuse.
How we use it
- To answer your enquiry or confirm your booking
- To send you booking-related emails (check-in instructions, receipts, post-stay follow-up)
- To keep the site secure and fix problems
We don't sell your information to anyone, and we don't use it for advertising tracking.
Third-party services we use
The site uses a small number of third-party services to function. Each only sees the data it needs:
- Escapia / HAPI - our reservation and payment platform. Handles the booking details and card processing.
- Google Maps - the property map on the destinations and contact pages. Loaded from Google when you view those pages.
- Cloudflare Turnstile - a privacy-friendly anti-spam check on our contact form. Replaces older CAPTCHA tools and doesn't track you across other sites.
- SMTP2GO - delivers the transactional emails we send (booking confirmations, enquiry replies).
Cookies
The site sets a small number of functional cookies needed to keep you logged in to the booking flow and to remember any property shortlist you've built up. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser if you'd rather, but the booking and shortlist features won't work without them.
How long we keep it
Booking records are kept for as long as our accounting and tax obligations require (typically seven years). Contact-form enquiries that don't lead to a booking are deleted after twelve months.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time. Email bookings@gippslandlakesescapes.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced on the site.
